October 2 is celebrated as Gandhi Jayanti to mark the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. One of the biggest political figures in India's struggle for independence in 1947, Gandhi was the man behind the Satyagraha movement and the civil disobedience, based on non-violence.

This year marks the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. On this occasion district level Painting and Essay Competition was organized at Rajbhawan, Chhattisgarh. Students of St. Vincent Pallotti College participated enthusiastically in this competition. Our students Sangeeta Jadhwani (B.Com-III) and N. Swathi (B.C.A-I) participated in essay competition. In painting competition, Lata Soni (B.C.A.-I), Jennifer Prakash (B.Ed.-I), Lavisha Franklin (B.Com.-I), Shikha Baghel (B.Com.-II) and Deepak Deep (B.Com.-II) took part. Shikha Baghel (B.Com.-II) brought glory to college by securing 2nd position in painting competition.
